Our Story
THE TEAMBEHIND THE SCORE.

RingScore started as one founder at a folding table, running boxing events on software he built himself. Today it is the infrastructure layer for Canadian combat sports — built by operators, engineers, and athletes who know what it costs when a score is wrong.

The Founders

Built by people
who love the sport.

Every founder on this team has spent years inside the sport — not watching it, but competing in it, running events, and living with the problems RingScore solves. That experience is the product.

Built the first version of RingScore alone and ran the first ten live events himself — from setting up devices to tallying results ringside. That initial prototype established the core vision and proved the magnitude of the problem to everyone who saw it. A serial entrepreneur and Senior AI Consultant at PwC, Saffat has trained in martial arts for over 15 years, competing in both Boxing and Muay Thai and winning major tournaments in both sports. That time inside the ropes informs every product decision he makes.

Why We Built This

Paper scorecards
were holding
the sport back.

Before RingScore, judges wrote scores by hand on carbon-copy paper. Tallying was manual. Errors were common — averaging 3 to 5 per event. Disputes took minutes. Commissions had no live visibility into what their judges were recording round by round.

At major events, scorecards were physically walked from ringside to officials before results could be announced. There was no audit trail. No real-time oversight. No way to catch a transcription error before it became the official record.

The sport ran on a system designed in 1927. We decided to update it — and the first ten events Saffat ran on the prototype made clear how much the industry was ready for something better.

The Architecture

Engineered for
the pressure of the ring.

Building for live events means building for failure modes that most software never faces. Spotty arena Wi-Fi. Judges on budget devices. Results that are legally binding the moment they are official. We designed RingScore around four non-negotiable pillars.

Offline-First by Design.

Every score is written to the judge's local device first. The server is the backup — not the primary. When connectivity drops, scoring continues uninterrupted. When it returns, a background sync queue drains automatically in submission order. No score has ever been lost in a live event.

Sub-Second Delivery.

When a judge submits a round, the commissioner dashboard updates in under 50 milliseconds. We use Supabase Realtime with channel-level subscriptions scoped per event — not polling, not webhooks. The supervisor sees the same score the instant the judge taps submit.

Active · 42ms latency

10-Point Must Enforcement.

The 10-point must system is not a suggestion — it is a constraint baked into every score input. Invalid combinations are blocked before submission. Point deductions from the referee automatically adjust effective scores. KO, TKO, DQ, and RSC stoppages are classified by the Head Judge and locked into the official record.

Full Audit Trail.

Every action in RingScore generates an immutable log entry: who scored, what they scored, when they submitted, and whether it was subsequently corrected and by whom. Corrections require supervisor authorization and are recorded with a reason. At event end, the complete record exports as a certified CSV for commission archives.

What We Stand For

Championship-grade
values.

01

Accuracy Above All

A wrong score changes a career. We treat every scorecard with the same weight as the athletic commission that signs it. Every validation rule exists because one incorrect digit has real consequences for real fighters.

02

Resilience by Default

We assume the network will fail. We assume the device will be budget hardware. We assume the arena will have thirty Wi-Fi networks fighting each other. RingScore is built for those conditions, not the ideal ones.

03

Radical Transparency

The audit trail is not a feature — it is the product. Every score, every correction, every stoppage is permanently logged and attributable. If a decision is ever questioned, the record exists.

04

Built for Officials, Not Spectators

Judges are under pressure. Our UI has zero unnecessary friction. The interface that appears at ringside is identical to the one in the demo — no onboarding required, no tutorial needed.

05

Respect for the Sport

Boxing and MMA have rules, traditions, and a culture that preceded any software platform. We build tools that serve those traditions rather than replace them. The sport defines the requirements. We meet them.
